The Carbon Trust
The Carbon Trust is an independent, not for profit group with the mission to accelerate the move to a sustainable, low carbon economy. Services include:
Technical and financial advice on carbon reduction. We offer energy audits, carbon footprinting services, and advise on technical, procurement and finance issues to accelerate project implementation. We have a network of accredited suppliers, and run the Energy Technology List on behalf of Government.
Employee and stakeholder engagement. We provide expert advice, campaign materials and tools to public and private sector bodies on engaging employees and stakeholders in carbon reduction, including Carbon Trust Empower.
Organisational and product certification. We measure and certify the carbon impact on products, organisations and supply chains.
Accelerating the development of low carbon technologies. The Carbon Trust leads several major low carbon innovation programmes. We maintain a strong relationship with DECC – including £30 million to develop offshore wind, biofuels and fuel cells technologies over the next three years. We also provide significant support to local authorities to develop district heat networks.
Providing policy advice to governments and corporates. We have played a leading role in informing the UK Government’s low carbon innovation strategy and helping to develop the Green Investment Bank. We also work on the design of policy and programmes overseas including Brazil, Mexico and South Africa.
