RICS Launches Aspire To Lead Campaign

Campaign will support and promote the industry’s only chartered qualifications for FM sector

This week, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has launched its Aspire to Lead campaign, dedicated to professional Facilities Management (FM) education.

Aspire to Lead is a campaign to encourage both aspiring and established FM professionals, in all stages of their careers, to become chartered in their respective fields.

RICS offers the highest professional qualification for leaders in the FM sector, and the only chartered Facilities Management (FM) status, setting the benchmark for standards across the industry.

The FM qualifications provided by RICS ensure that FMs offer consistent standards of professional advice underpinned by ethics and independent regulation. By achieving an RICS qualification those in the sector can earn a salary increase of £10,000 per year* and tap into a network of over 118,000 professional connections worldwide.

Through its partnership with the Building Futures Group, RICS offers a career path for aspiring leaders in FM by providing a ‘pathway to professionalism’ that enables those working in an operational role to transition towards leadership. The Senior Manager and Strategic Manager Competency Certificates provide direct entry to the RICS Associate qualification. With further relevant study and experience RICS Associates may then progress to chartered status.

Paul Bagust, Director, Facilities Management Professional Group at RICS, comments: “We developed the Aspire to Lead campaign in order to support and advocate the leadership opportunities which a career in FM can open up. We champion the professionalisation of facilities management and believe that a chartered qualification helps improve consistency of standards across the discipline of strategic FM and supports development of leadership management credentials.”
