How is the Public Sector responding? What actions have been taken? What milestones have been achieved?

Buildings, whether existing, new build or refurbished should reduce whole life carbon and material costs by enabling resource efficient operations (energy, waste, water etc). They should have an internal environment that contributes to physical and mental health, and one that enhances creativity and productivity. Buildings should be flexible and adaptable to future users and able to cope with the local effects of climate change.

Public Sector Sustainability Magazine has been re-launched, from the publishers of Energy Manager Magazine, dedicated to all those involved in helping to reduce the carbon footprint throughout all public Sector buildings and estates. It will deliver news, views, case studies, new products and opinion pieces to assist, inspire and motivate those individuals.

The Public Sector needs to be a leading exponent of sustainable development. It needs to ensure that the design, construction, refurbishment, maintenance and management of all its buildings and estates contribute to this and that their sustainable practices help them achieve the goal of becoming carbon neutral.

Public Sector Sustainability will provide solutions to help make this possible.
