Tarkett UK launches a unique collection combining functional qualities with colour research
Tarkett, the worldwide leader in the flooring industry, has launched a new collection of heterogeneous vinyl flooring, Acczent Excellence 80/Tapiflex Excellence 65, offering a wide spectrum of colours based on research of the ageing human eye and its perception of colour. Combining a total of 117 designs, the collection is available both as a compact backed and acoustic option.
Centred on the concept of colours, the collection of heavy duty commercial 2m sheets offers full flooring solutions for education as well as health and aged care environments. Steve Urwin, Marketing Manager, Tarkett explains: “Our research into ‘Designing Alzheimer’s Facilities’ indicates that some colours can encourage a sense of well-being and help create a setting that patients find reassuring, while other colours can cause behavioural problems”. Similarly, colours used in educational environments have been shown to affect learning and memory performance.
The Acczent and Tapiflex ranges, while taking the effect of colour into account, also fulfil the essential requirements of flooring specification. Steve continues: “We wanted our extensive colour proposition to be complemented by multi-performance options covering all of the bases and providing our clients with an acoustic option, a compact option, as well as loose lay. We also offer a full range of complementary accessories that go beyond the usual skirting and underlay to include accessibility products, such as podotactile warning strips and stair nosings.”
Acczent is compact backed making it ideal for high traffic areas. Available in a 0.8 mm PVC wear layer, its design range includes woods, natural materials and contemporary effects. Tapiflex, with its acoustic characteristics, comes in a 0.65 mm PVC wear layer and provides unrivalled sound reduction and shock absorbency. Containing high density foam backing with closed cells, it reduces impact noise and softens every step.
The two ranges offer great resistance to scuffing, soiling, staining, indentation, abrasion and tearing. They also feature the surface benefits of TOPCLEAN XP PUR reinforcement which means no wax and no polish for life, and easy low-cost maintenance.
The Acczent Excellence 80/Tapiflex Excellence 65 are the most complete product offer in their class, reflecting Tarkett’s design leadership in the field of commercial product development.
